Ed Klein: Docs Show Obama Overruled Clinton To Deny Security In Benghazi

Ed Klein stated that the Clinton’s legal team told him that there were documents that showed President Obama denied the requests for additional security at the Benghazi Consulate despite Hillary Clinton’s request for more security. He also said that Bill Clinton wants to release the documents to exonerate his wife. (The Blaze TV) - via Real Clear Politics

Despite real-time video, emails to the White House and desperate cries for help, our defense secretary, Leon Panetta, says we didn't send rescue forces to our Benghazi consulate because we didn't know what was going on

Panetta Says We Lacked Real-Time Benghazi Intel - IBD Editorial

In a statement bordering on the Kafkaesque, Leon Panetta told a news conference Thursday that four Americans, including our Libyan ambassador Chris Stevens, were left to die without a rescue attempt by nearby U.S. military forces because there's "a basic principle here, and the basic principle is that you don't deploy forces into harm's way without knowing what's going on, without having some real-time information about what's taking place."

That would seem to sum up the Obama administration's assessment of and story line about the Middle East — it has no real-time clue about what's going on. Osama bin Laden is dead, but Islamofascism is very much alive, and to send an ambassador and his diplomatic mission into harm's way without so much as a Marine security detachment with bayonets is unconscionable....

Gallup, Rasmussen Forecast More Republican Voters In 2012 Than 2004

Two pollsters, Gallup and Rasmussen Reports, are projecting Republican voters to have a slight advantage on November 6 over Democratic voters. - Mediaite

This year, Gallup finds a one point Republican advantage over Democrats, at 36 to 35 percent. They also find that self-identified independent voters will make up 29 percent of the electorate. However, when leaners are included, Republican voters will outnumber Democratic voters by 49 to 46 percent.

This finding is close to what Rasmussen Reports saw in their August/September average of party identification. Their surveys found Republicans dominating the electorate with Democrats trailing their 2004 and 2008 turnout totals. Independent voters, which most national polls show favoring Mitt Romney by wide margins but backed President Barack Obama in 2008, approximately mirror their 2008 turnout totals (the Washington Post/ABC News tracking poll on Thursday showed Romney with a 19-point advantage over Obama among independent voters).

Republican Senate hopeful releases virtual debate on YouTube - FOX

A California Republican hopeful has taken a Hollywood approach to force a 41-year Democratic politician into a debate.

Using special effects, Elizabeth Emken released a YouTube video in which she debates a virtual version of Sen. Dianne Feinstein.

In the video Emken asks questions to the silent virtual version of Feinstein.
Emken instructs then instructs viewers to call Feinstein's office "if you want to see a real debate."

Feinstein, who has repeatedly denied Emken's requests for a debate, walked away from an interview with ABC7 when the reporter asked if it would be better for voters to hear both sides...

Rasmussen: Mitt +4.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Saturday shows Mitt Romney attracting support from 50% of voters nationwide, while President Obama earns the vote from 46%. = Rasmussen

This is the fifth consecutive day that Romney has been at the 50% level of support. He has enjoyed a three- or four-point edge on each of those days.

New polling shows that the race is tied in ◼ Wisconsin, a result confirmed by the fact that the Badger State is receiving visits from Obama, Romney, Paul Ryan and Joe Biden. The importance of this state in the Electoral College battle is hard to overstate. Scott Rasmussen suggests in his weekly newspaper column that ◼ Wisconsin May Be the New Ohio this year. That’s a startling result given that the president won Wisconsin by 14 points in 2008.

Romney is up two in ◼ Florida, moving that state back into the Toss-Up column. The Rasmussen Reports ◼ Electoral College projections now show the president with 237 Electoral Votes and Romney 206. The magic number needed to win the White House is 270. Eight states with 95 Electoral College votes remain Toss-ups. In addition to Florida, the battleground states are ◼ Colorado,Iowa,Nevada,New Hampshire, linkOhio, ◼ Virginia, and ◼ linkWisconsin.

Sweeping in front of her house in Williamsburg, Pauline McAreavy recalled how she had thought Obama would bring a politically divided country together and that electing the first African American president of the United States would be "wonderful" for this country.

Over $60,000 in Welfare Spent Per Household in Poverty

New data compiled by the Republican side of the Senate Budget Committee shows that, last year, the United States spent over $60,000 to support welfare programs per each household that is in poverty. The calculations are based on data from the Census, the Office of Management and Budget, and the Congressional Research Services. - Daniel Halper/Weekly Standard

This dollar figure is almost three times the amount the average household on poverty lives on per year. "If the spending on these programs were converted into cash, and distributed exclusively to the nation’s households below the poverty line, this cash amount would be over 2.5 times the federal poverty threshold for a family of four, which in 2011 was $22,350 (see table in this link)," the Republicans on the Senate Budget Committee note.

To be clear, not all households living below the poverty line receive $61,194 worth of assistance per year. After all, many above the poverty line also receive benefits from social welfare programs (e.g. pell grants).

But if welfare is meant to help bring those below the poverty line to a better place, it helps demonstrate that numbers do not add up.

Our President chose to let these four men fight for seven hours and die alone in that Benghazi compound. How and why did Obama decide not to help them?

They fought for their lives for seven hours. 9/11/ 2012. Benghazi. The White House watched. No help was sent and they died. - Karin McQuillan/American Thinker

Mr. President, who let them die? - Union Leader Editorial

Ed Klein, author of The Amateur, says his sources tell him that Hillary Clinton wanted to increase security in Libya, but Barack Obama denied her requests. He also says it would have been Obama that had to make the “gutsy call” and order rapid reaction forces to save Ambassador Stevens. Supposedly Bill Clinton has been urging his wife to get all this out in the open, to save her reputation, but of course they’d rather wait until after the election. Obama’s Benghazi disaster is unraveling too quickly for these political hacks to keep stalling that long. Men of incredible courage and dedication died in Benghazi on September 11. It’s increasingly clear that they didn’t have to.

BOMBSHELL: US troops in Benghazi would not have been painting targets on the ground unless there was air support overhead.
But someone called it off – And the decision most likely came from the White House.
- Jim Hoft/Gateway Pundit

From the retired Delta operator: Having spent a good bit of time nursing a GLD (ground Laser Designator) in several garden spots around the world, something from the report jumped out at me.

One of the former SEALs was actively painting the target. That means that Specter WAS ON STATION! Probably an AC130U. A ground laser designator is not a briefing pointer laser. You do not "paint" a target until the weapons system/designator is synched; which means that the AC130 was on station.

Only two places could have called off the attack at that point; the WH situation command (based on POTUS direction) or AFRICOM commander based on information directly from the target area.

If the AC130 never left Sigonella (as Penetta says) that means that the Predator that was filming the whole thing was armed.

If that SEAL was actively "painting" a target; something was on station to engage! And the decision to stand down goes directly to POTUS!

"Bump In The Road" v "Seal Team Six"

We've got a major problem....

In just a few days, National Geographic Channel will begin broadcasting "Seal Team Six: The Raid on Osama Bin Laden," even after ◼ reporting by the New York Times and other media outlets disclosed that the timing and editing of the film by Obama mega-donor and Hollywood liberal Harvey Weinstein were orchestrated to use the heroic work of U.S. Special Operations Forces to promote President Obama's re-election. OPSEC's not going take this sitting down.

If we can raise the funds necessary -- we're going to air our hard-hitting ad, "Bump In The Road," right along-side the documentary on National Geographic Channel. Every person who watches will know how this documentary is exploiting service members, divulging national secrets that are putting special forces lives at risk, and is timed to be nothing more than an ad for President Obama.

Please make an urgent donation of $25, $50, $100 or more right now to help OPSEC send a powerful message to Obama, Hollywood liberal Harvey Weinstein, and anyone else who wants to exploit the hard work of America's Special Forces that they will have to score political points elsewhere!

It's truly sad that once again, Special Forces operations are being used as a political pawn to win votes for Obama's reelection....not to mention the further leaks of tactics and methods that will further jeopardize future missions against Al Qaeda. National Geographic's Channel own President even admitted that, "that some people were suspicious of the film's intentions."

Our ad hits the Obama Administration hard for lying about the attacks in Libya that cost the U.S. Ambassador, two former SEALs and another U.S. diplomat their lives while also having politicized the raid that killed Osama bin Laden.

So will you make an urgent donation to help us run this ad side-by-side with Harvey Weinstein's exploitive Seal Team Six documentary? It's absolutely critical we raise the funds necessary to get our response running right along side this TV program.

Playing politics with national security is wrong and endangers American lives. It will only result in special forces coming home in flag draped coffins because their missions have been reduced to petty political games in place of protecting America.

Prop. 39 – No: Measure hurts local, state manufacturing

Proponents want you to think that Proposition 39 is a tax increase that will do no harm because it only applies to out-of-state corporations. They don’t tell you that many manufacturers with facilities and employees in California will get hit with up to 50 percent increases in corporate income tax under Proposition 39. - Jack M. Stewart/North County Times

...In a twisted argument, proponents argue that Proposition 39 “repeals a shady backroom legislative deal enacted in 2009” that created a tax “loophole” for “out-of-state” companies. That is false and misleading. As noted above, Proposition 39 would repeal a long-standing method for income tax apportionment and replace it with a new formula only made available since 2009....

Proponents say Prop. 39 will help grow jobs in the state. The absolute opposite is true. Having appropriate and competitive tax liability choices will help sustain and grow all manufacturers in the state. I’ve led the California Manufacturers & Technology Association for over 20 years and I have never heard a manufacturer say, “If only California had a mandatory single sales tax formula, we would site or keep a facility there.”

In a county that is dependent upon almost 100,0000 manufacturing jobs for its middle class and economy, its voters should vote “no” on Proposition 39.

Long Beach Press-Telegram Endorsement: Mitt Romney for president

Sad to say, the reservations our editorial board expressed about Obama in 2008 have been borne out. His inexperience in an executive position has been exposed. His naivete about his chances of getting much of his program through a deeply partisan Congress has been cured the hard way. - Long Beach Press-Telegram

Meanwhile, Romney is not merely an acceptable alternative to Obama.

He is an honorable, trustworthy and steady leader who, had he been the Republican Party's nominee four years ago, would have given Obama a tougher challenge than the reckless duo of John McCain and Sarah Palin.

Romney has proven his leadership qualities as a business success, as the trouble-shooting head of the Salt Lake City Olympics, and as the governor of Democratic Party-dominated Massachusetts.

And, at a time when leading Republicans and Democrats fly the flag of inflexibility, the worst thing that many critics say about Romney is that he is too flexible, that he bends his policies to the situations in front of him.

As president, Romney would not be restrained by foolish consistency. He would be expected to do the right thing no matter where the solutions originate. This is the most precious trait an officeholder can have in this era of corrosive hyperpartisanship.

Petraeus Tosses Obama Under Bus: CIA Says No One at Any Level Told Anybody Not to Help Those in Need

The CIA refused to be the fall guys for Benghazi today. - Jim Hoft/Gateway Pundit
via @JakeTapper
Breaking news on Benghazi: the CIA spokesman, presumably at the direction of CIA director David Petraeus, has put out this statement: "No one at any level in the CIA told anybody not to help those in need; claims to the contrary are simply inaccurate. ” - Bill Kristol/Weekly Standard

So who in the government did tell “anybody” not to help those in need? Someone decided not to send in military assets to help those Agency operators. Would the secretary of defense make such a decision on his own? No.

It would have been a presidential decision. There was presumably a rationale for such a decision. What was it? When and why—and based on whose counsel obtained in what meetings or conversations—did President Obama decide against sending in military assets to help the Americans in need?

California: 'Top 2' ballot turns allies into enemies

California's "top two" election system changed the runoff rules to give the top vote-getters in a primary race a spot on the November ballot, regardless of their party affiliation.

The system, approved by voters in 2010, was supposed to create more-moderate candidates and give independent voters a stronger voice, especially when coupled with newly created legislative and congressional districts - drawn, for the first time, by an independent citizens commission.

Instead, the changes have resulted in a number of down-and-dirty races that pit Democrat against Democrat or Republican against Republican and, according to some experts, could allow political parties to consolidate their power in Sacramento. Statewide, there are 28 legislative and congressional races with same-party candidates running against one another.

"The idea was that Republicans would have to appeal to Democrats and Democrats would have to appeal to Republicans, and it would weaken the power of the party," said Paul Mitchell, vice president of the Sacramento-based firm Redistricting Partners, which provides campaigns on both sides of the aisle with voter information.

"But what ended up happening is that, in the primaries, Republicans had to go far to the right to win bases and Democrats had to go far to the left," he said. "The parties are still strong ... and there are no reform-minded, moderate candidates out there...."

Noonan: When Americans Saw the Real Obama

Why the Denver debate changed everything. - Peggy Noonan/Wall St. Journal

Bob Woodward's "The Price of Politics," (paints a portrait) of Mr. Obama—of a president who is at once over his head, out of his depth and wholly unaware of the fact—hasn't received the attention it deserves. Throughout the book, which is a journalistic history of the president's key economic negotiations with Capitol Hill, Mr. Obama is portrayed as having the appearance and presentation of an academic or intellectual while being strangely clueless in his reading of political situations and dynamics. He is bad at negotiating—in fact doesn't know how. His confidence is consistently greater than his acumen, his arrogance greater than his grasp.

...Mr. Woodward's portrait of the president is not precisely new—it has been drawn in other ways in other accounts, and has been a staple of D.C. gossip for three years now—but it is vivid and believable. And there's probably a direct line between that portrait and the Obama seen in the first debate. Maybe that's what made it so indelible, and such an arc-changer.

People saw for the first time an Obama they may have heard about on radio or in a newspaper but had never seen.

They didn't see some odd version of the president. They saw the president.

And they didn't like what they saw, and that would linger.

CIA operators were denied request for help during Benghazi attack, sources say - FOX

Fox News has learned from sources who were on the ground in Benghazi that an urgent request from the CIA annex for military back-up during the attack on the U.S. consulate and subsequent attack several hours later was denied by U.S. officials -- who also told the CIA operators twice to "stand down" rather than help the ambassador's team when shots were heard at approximately 9:40 p.m. in Benghazi on Sept. 11.

Former Navy SEAL Tyrone Woods was part of a small team who was at the CIA annex about a mile from the U.S. consulate where Ambassador Chris Stevens and his team came under attack. When he and others heard the shots fired, they informed their higher-ups at the annex to tell them what they were hearing and requested permission to go to the consulate and help out. They were told to "stand down," according to sources familiar with the exchange. Soon after, they were again told to "stand down."

Woods and at least two others ignored those orders and made their way to the consulate which at that point was on fire. Shots were exchanged. The rescue team from the CIA annex evacuated those who remained at the consulate and Sean Smith, who had been killed in the initial attack. They could not find the ambassador and returned to the CIA annex at about midnight.

At that point, they called again for military support and help because they were taking fire at the CIA safe house, or annex. The request was denied.... Read the rest.

Sun Sentinel endorses Mitt Romney for president

Brush away all the rhetoric, all the vitriol, all the divisiveness from the presidential campaign. To most Americans, only one thing matters — the economy. - Sun Sentinel Editorial Board

We believe Romney will help this nation find the political will to address the challenges with Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. We’d like to see him exercise equal fiscal discipline at the Pentagon, whose budget has grown 50 percent in 10 years and exceeds that of the next 10 largest nations combined.

The greatest threat to our national defense is not the size of our military, but the ever-escalating size of our national debt. We must get government spending under control, across the board.

President Obama is a decent man who took office with the nation facing an economic precipice. But even he predicted he would be a one-term president if he failed to turn things around.

We believe the best chance to get America back working again is to elect Mitt Romney. That’s why we endorse him for president.

EDITORIAL: Stop believing in Obama

The last four years have been a disaster, another four won’t be any better - Washington Times

...The American people have no obligation to devote another four years of their lives to a man who has failed them. The country deserves better. By all means, America must move forward, but the country will not get there with Mr. Obama. Believe it.

"Bill and Hillary Clinton have been having “big fights” for “two or three weeks” about the issue, according to his two sources on Clinton’s legal counsel. While Bill Clinton wishes his wife would “exonerate” herself by releasing the documents that show she wasn’t at fault for the tragic security failure in Libya, she refuses to do so because she doesn’t want to be viewed as a traitor to the Democratic party."

The American economy is treading water in the short term and threatened by a crushing debt burden in the long term. To fix this mess, and to bring back what most Americans consider economic normalcy, we urge our readers to vote for Mitt Romney on Nov. 6. - Washington Examiner

Honest people will disagree about how much of his agenda Romney can realistically implement. But at least his election would provide America with a fighting chance in both economic and fiscal terms. What Americans need now is not a savior or a messiah, but someone who knows how to take a troubled situation and turn it around. Romney is the man for the job.

For America's future, The New York Post endorses Mitt Romney for president

America needs more than hope. It needs leadership. That is why The Post today endorses the candidacy of Mitt Romney for president of the United States. - New York Post

Four years ago, Obama vowed “to restore America’s standing in the world.” But he has sown rancor and confusion instead.

Our friends don’t know if they’re still our friends; our enemies wonder whether we have the courage to stand up to them.

The result has been a cataclysmic breakdown of US leadership in the Middle East.

Israel — and not just Israel — questions whether Obama is committed to curbing Iran’s nuclear threat.

Syria is in open civil war, while Egypt and Libya teeter on the brink. Osama bin Laden may be dead, but al Qaeda has hardly been contained — as Benghazi tragically proved.

In contrast, the smoke now hanging over the Middle East testifies to Obama’s inability to get the job done.

Any job.

Because, in the end, the fundamental problem is the president’s core philosophy.

He believes in equality of outcome, not equality of opportunity — and that is not how America is supposed to work.

America is not working right now.

For four more years?

We think not.

Mitt Romney for president.

Mitt Romney’s Quiet Prayer Amidst The Sound Of Thunder

I’ve gone from just trying to defeat Obama to really trying to help Governor Romney be this country’s next president. I’m really starting to believe there might be something very special about this man. - Ulsterman

As the governor was en route to the amphitheatre they were told the crowd was showing “strong numbers”. What greeted him was a lot more than just “strong numbers” though. It was a massive wave of thousands and thousands of supporters. Before going on the governor apparently peeked out a few times and was shaking his head in disbelief at just how many people were there to see him. He was told by organizers up to a thousand more were turned away because there simply wasn’t any room left. People said you could feel the size of the crowd under your feet backstage. Somebody had passed out a ton of “thundersticks” and the people were banging them together and making this amazing rumbling noise. There were some real veteran campaigners backstage and I’m told they were all blown away by this crowd in Colorado. It really was like some big time rock show. Just a huge response for the governor.

So Governor Romney goes onstage and gives his speech. The crowd just totally embraces him. From beginning to end. Every word. They are fired up. Loud. Positive. Cheering. Just an amazing moment for the campaign. Everybody backstage were all smiles and peeking out at all those people and shaking their heads. This is the kind of moment in a campaign you never forget. Ever. Nobody who hasn’t experienced it can really understand this feeling. You’re looking at a candidate being transformed right in front of your eyes into the next Leader of the Free World. They go from being human into something just a bit more. It’s all those people. That energy. It kind of fills the candidate up and makes them bigger than life. And you are watching it happen in real time. Right then.

The governor returns backstage and he is smiling and shaking hands, taking congratulations from everybody around him. He’s saying how great it was. Somebody yells out he’s going to win Colorado and the governor laughs and says he thinks so too. And then something very interesting happens. He moves away from the group of people just a bit. Maybe ten or fifteen feet or so. Just enough to have a little space to himself. And enough people notice that the area gets a lot more quiet, and they are trying to watch the governor without looking like they are watching the governor. They can all kind of tell something is happening right then. It was described as something very peaceful and powerful that came over that backstage area for a moment. And the governor, he lowers his head and his eyes shut tight and you could see him take a slow deep breath and then he lets it out and says quietly, but just loud enough for some to hear, “Lord, if this is your will, please help to make me worthy. Please give me the strength Lord.” And then his eyes open up, and he’s back to smiling and laughing and shaking hands and being the candidate once again.

I’m 100% convinced Mitt Romney was shaken to his soul right then and there. I think at that moment it was sinking in he might really be the next American president, and it humbled him right to his core, in every nerve of his body. And as he was saying that little prayer, you could hear the sound of thunder from all those thundersticks outside. Like this huge low rumble that just surrounded all of them at once. A quiet little prayer, and the sound of thunder.

The sound of God.

“Are these the words of someone who is sorry?” said Woods. - The Blaze

The grieving father also described his brief encounter with President Obama during the ceremony for the Libya victims.

“When he finally came over to where we were, I could tell that he was rather conflicted, a person who was not at peace with himself,” Woods said. “Shaking hands with him, quite frankly, was like shaking hands with a dead fish. His face was pointed towards me but he would not look me in the eye, his eyes were over my shoulder.”

“I could tell that he was not sorry,” he added. “He had no remorse.”

...“The question that I had in my mind,” Woods replied, “was why did we not do something to protect our forces?”

The Right Scoop summarizes a mind-bogglingly bad get-out-the-vote video from the Obama campaign:

Talk about desperation. They've finally sunken to a new low trying to get the youth vote by comparing voting for the first time to having sex for the first time. "Your first time shouldn't be with just anybody. You wanna do it with a great guy . . ."

Dana Perino: "Who approved that new Obama campaign message? AND who pushed the video?"

Michelle Ray: "Between Julia and this new freaking ad, @BarackObama portrays women as giddy, helpless, impressionable morons."

Biased Girl: "Is that what this administration thinks Real women are like?"

Kathryn Lopez: "It's as if every day the Obama campaign gives me another reason to see how clearly we a new president — for the sake of our politics and our culture."

Adrian Gray: "That Lena Dunham ad was a very risky move for any campaign. And even more surprising it was approved by the father of two girls."

Liz Mair: "So voting for Obama is like losing your virginity? A dude cooked that one up, right? Because for us girls, that means you're saying it's painful."

Stacy Washington: "The #MyFirstTime ad is the height of vulgarity. Tell me #Democrat Moms: Is this how you want the president talking to your daughters?"

Andrea Chapman: "You don't want your first time to be with #Obama because his stimulus package didn't deliver as promised."

Kat McKinley: "Does one get the feeling Hugh Hefner is running the Obama campaign?"

Kristina Ribali: "Be careful ladies . . . You don't want to be punished with an Obama."

Kevin Eder: "I've now watched it four times. I refuse to believe that it's a real, actual thing." He adds, "Dear college kids: trust me on this, having a job when you graduate is WAY more 'cool' than voting for Barack Obama. I PROMISE."

Moe Lane: "I know I'm supposed to be shocked by Obama's new NSFW ad, but instead I'm embarrassed. It's like walking in on my parents having sex. I mean, you know that your parents — or your President — is aware of sex. You just don't need to VISUALIZE it."

NY Dem49: "Word of advice for Obama, don't create an ad you wouldn't be comfortable with your daughter reciting."

Ace from ◼ Ace of Spades:
It's hideous.

It's not funny, it's not cute, and it's not persuasive, unless you think the important issues in this campaign are Binders Full of Birth Control.

It underlines the essential triviality of Obama and his Government Client & Upper Upper Class White Voter agenda. There is nothing to his campaign except very small social-progressive appeals to people who are simply not affected by the economy, whether they are too poor to notice a bad economy, immunized from the economy by being a government worker, or so rich they have nothing at all to fear from a bad economy.

It continues to be weird that Democrats want so bad to have sex with their cult leader. But I guess that's a central part of the cult thing.
Tim Carney: "'Voting is like sex,' Romney's a 'bull*****er,' 'Romnesia,' 'Big Bird.' I thought you had to be older than 15 to be President."

Cameron Gray: "Shorter Lena Dunham in her Barack Obama campaign ad: 'Labia, not Libya.'"

He later adds, "I'm Barack Obama and I appro . . . wait, what the hell IS this? Are you CRAZY????"

Jimmie Bise: "Unintended consequence of the new Obama campaign ad? Guys everywhere now hesitant to vote early."

Josh Trevino: "Give the Obama campaign credit for reaching across demographic, geographic divides, from Red Hook to Fort Greene and even to Park Slope."

Dave Weigel: "The Lena Dunham endorsement video will sway those few people unconvinced by the New Yorker's Obama endorsement."

"If you'll excuse me, I have to go bleach my eyes," apologizes Rusty Weiss at the ◼ Mental Recession. "Word of advice libs — if voting for Obama is like having sex . . . you're doing it wrong!"

So what lunatic came up with this idea? Oh, ◼ Foreign Policy magazine is here to help out with that one:

I see the Obama campaign has a new YouTube ad featuring Girls star (and fellow Oberlin alum!) Lena Dunham:

"Your first time shouldn't be with just anybody. You want to do it with a great guy," she says, referring to casting your first ballot for Obama. (What were you thinking?)

It's a clever conceit, but feels a bit familiar. Perhaps because the same joke was used in an ad for Vladimir Putin's presidential campaign earlier this year:

A suggestive ad rallying support for Putin's presidential campaign shows a young woman seeking a fortune-teller's advice. "Let's find out, cutie, who is intended to you by destiny," the mystic says. The girl replies, "You know. I wish it to be for love -- It is my first time."

And you thought this couldn't get any creepier!

Oh, wait . . . ◼ last week Lena Dunham was in trouble for making rape and murder jokes on Twitter.

(sigh) Yeah.

Editorial: Mitt Romney for President

Romney brings credible plan - Detroit News

...The course of a nation

As we said, this is more than a choice between two individuals. America is locked in a struggle over what it will be as a mature nation.

A country built on rugged individualism finds itself increasingly under the thumb of a federal government that is ever expanding its reach into the lives of its citizens.

Obama has proved himself a disciple of the doctrine that for every problem there's a government solution.

Romney, by contrast, embraces individual initiative and entrepreneurship. He would turn back the encroachment of the bureaucracy into the private sector.

Romney would replace the heavy hand of government with the invisible hand of a rational marketplace working to produce broad prosperity.

While both poverty and dependency have increased on Obama's watch, Romney promises to replace government checks with private sector jobs and reverse the decline in middle class incomes. It is heavy lifting, but we favor the candidate who is committed to it.

Romney's goal is to help all Americans live independent and productive lives, free to rise to the extent of their personal capabilities. He would not shield them from risk or the consequences of their decisions, but neither would he deny them their earned rewards.

Our hope is that Mitt Romney would restore faith in the core principles of free men and women, free minds and free markets that made America great, and will keep it so. Read the whole thing.

Detroit News: Thanks for those auto bailouts, but… we pick Mitt - Erika Johnsen/HotAir

Romney has been an effective leader his entire career, both in business and politics. As governor of Massachusetts, he worked with a Democratic legislature to produce difficult health care and education reforms. We are optimistic he can restore the art of compromise to Washington.

Des Moines Register front page sums up state of campaign perfectly

Revenge of the Register? -Ed Morrissey/HotAir
After yesterday’s tussle with the White House about whether the Des Moines Register could actually tell people what Barack Obama said in an interview with them to get the editorial board’s endorsement, Obama finally relented and allowed Iowa’s leading newspaper to print a transcript of the interview. The editors assured readers that they would not hold Obama’s pettiness against him when it came to deciding on the endorsement, as too much is at stake in this election. However, today’s front page certainly looks like a little payback for Obama’s unprecedented demand for “privacy” — and a pretty good hint at which way the DMR is leaning on that endorsement (via Byron York)

This is hardly a subtle message. The headlines contrast the negative campaigning from Obama with the positive, agenda-focused campaigning from Romney. They have Obama scowling and looking over his shoulder, while Romney smiles and looks forward. Obama is also positioned lower in the photos than Romney. Plus, even the crowd reactions are a contrast; hardly anyone around Obama is smiling, while the crowd is reaching toward Romney, showing enthusiasm and support. The only thing missing here is a MSM-style halo around Romney’s head instead of Obama’s, and a classic Obama finger point to go with the scowl.

The Truth About Libya - Failed Foreign Policy

America was attacked on September 11th, 2012 by Al Qaeda at our consulate in Libya. Our consulate was burned and four Americans including our ambassador were murdered. President Obama and his administration denied it was a terrorist attack for weeks. Since then, Americans have learned that Obama and his administration knew it was an act of terror all along and chose to tell the public it was because of a Youtube video protest. It's time for Obama to tell the truth on Libya. We can't afford more apologies, excuses, and weakness.

Krauthammer: Lack of Benghazi media coverage ‘a journalistic scandal’

Krauthammer pointed out that recently released emails proved the White House, contrary to its assertions, was aware of terrorists’ connection to the attack almost immediately. - Jeff Poor/Daily Caller

“This is really a journalistic scandal,” Krauthammer said. “I mean, the fact there was not a word about any of this in the Times or the Post today...”

“And there is one thing that was very new and very interesting — you know, the White House has been trying to insulate itself on this the whole time,” Krauthammer said. “You get Joe Biden saying in his debate ‘we didn’t know.’ And of course, everybody knew. They say, ‘Well the White House didn’t know.’ These emails went to the situation room. What this story does is it punctures the myth that everybody might have known — the intelligence guys, the State Department, but the White House did not. It was in the situation room.”

Benghazi and Obama: the media is trying to shore up this desperate administration - James Delingpole/Telegraph

Here's one thing we can be sure of about the Benghazi affair: almost everything we've been told since by the mainstream media is a lie, invariably one designed to shore up the creaky and desperate Obama administration.... Read the rest...

Campaign Obama in Ohio: Magic gone, the president grinds it out

One sign dominated the landscape when President Obama made a campaign stop here on a warm, sunny Tuesday afternoon in Triangle Park. The sign did not say "Obama-Biden," or "Forward," or some other slogan. It said, in letters that stood nearly six feet tall: VOTE EARLY. - Byron York/Washington Examiner

"Before I begin, I want you all to look at those two words: Vote Early," Obama said, pointing to his left immediately after taking the stage to raucous applause. "Do it now."

That's the essence of the Obama re-election effort less than two weeks from Election Day. Team Obama knows the campaign doesn't have the magic it had in 2008. Crowds are enthusiastic, but not over-the-top enthusiastic. Obama's strategy is to make up the excitement gap by just grinding it out, doing the organizational work of getting the people most likely to support the president -- blacks, Latinos, women, the young -- to vote early. By doing so, he hopes to build up a sufficient bank of votes to prevail over Romney on November 6. It's the no-magic campaign.

Magic gone in Ohio? - Ed Morrissey/HotAir

It’s a razor-close race in Ohio, but if Romney has knocked six points off of Obama’s 2008 gender gap and turned an eight-point deficit among independents into an eight-point advantage in a cycle where Democratic enthusiasm won’t come close to matching 2008, I have to think that the magic has already shifted to Romney.

This exposes in stark detail the bald face lies of Obama and Hillary. Shame on them.

Emails Expose White House Lies on Benghazi - Larry Johnson/No Quarter

Let me help you with some of the terms. “SES_DUTYDEPUTIES” and S_SPECIAL ASSISTANTS refer to senior State Department personnel. SES is the acronym for Senior Executive Service. These are the equivalent of General Officers in the military services. “S” is the abbreviation for the SECRETARY of STATE. In other words, Hillary and her assistants were notified. The Bureau of Counter Terrorism was notified. The White House, the FBI and the Pentagon were all notified that an Al Qaeda group, Ansar al Sharia claimed credit for the attack.

The President made the decision to not use F18s (even in a flyover to shake the resolve of the terrorists). The President made the decision to go to Vegas to a campaign dinner.

So what is worse than our State people now knowing that the President will do nothing if they are attacked?

Al Qaeda knows that now, too.

Obama Knew Benghazi Was Terrorism And Did Nothing - IBD Editorial

Could it be the cover story was necessary so no one would ask the obvious question of why a rescue or relief mission was not mounted? Retired CIA officer Gary Berntsen, who commanded counterterrorism missions targeting Osama bin Laden and led the team that responded after the bombings of U.S. embassies in East Africa, believes help could and should have been sent.

Romney takes lead as election nears

R 50% O 47% - Gallup
R 49% O 48% - Romney Takes Lead on Economy; White Men are the Movers - ABC
R 47% O 46% - Reuters

Republican candidate Mitt Romney was 1 percentage point ahead of President Barack Obama in Wednesday's Reuters/Ipsos daily tracking poll in a presidential race that is effectively a dead heat less than two weeks before the November 6 election.
In a reversal of Tuesday's results, Romney led Obama among likely voters by 47 percent to 46 percent, a statistically insignificant margin, in the four-day online tracking poll.

Romney held a wider lead among independent voters, who will be crucial to winning on Election Day. Thirty-seven percent of them said they would pick the Republican if elections were held today and 31 percent chose Obama.

Obama, however, had a lead of 53 percent to 42 percent among the 17 percent of the surveyed registered voters who said they had already cast their vote.

Florida Republicans receiving fake ineligibility letters aimed at suppressing their vote

The Florida Department of State’s Division of Elections is investigating a number of fraudulent letters sent to voters in the state questioning their citizenship and voter eligibility, in a possible attempt to keep them home on Election Day. - Caroline May/Daily Caller

“We’ve received multiple reports of a fraudulent letter that impersonates supervisors of elections and indicates that eligible voters might be ineligible,” Chris Cate, spokesman for the Division of Elections, explained to the Tampa Bay Times, which reported the letters have gone mostly — if not entirely — to Republicans in the state.

“We’re working with the state’s supervisors of elections, as well law enforcement, to identify the source of the letters and put a stop to them,” Cate said.

New ad by Clint Eastwood: And Obama re-run would not make my day

American Crossroads has a new ad out today, one that features a familiar face and voice — Clint Eastwood. America needs a turnaround artist, Eastwood says, and fortunately we have one at the ready

Obama Unnerved — by Ohio? - National Review

No wonder, then, that Romney seemed like the man who was winning (Monday) night. When he spoke, you thought “energy in the executive.” When Obama spoke, the words that came to mind were “fatigue,” “apathy,” “frustration.” In his closing statement the president was clearly rattled, lamely reciting talking points we’ve heard too often before, not even pretending to care about what he was saying — simply wanting it to be over. It was as though a light had gone out. Was he disconcerted by the smoothness of Romney’s performance? Or is his campaign’s internal polling in Ohio less pretty than his people are letting on?

The real reason behind Benghazigate

Was Obama gun-walking arms to jihadists? - Frank J. Gaffney Jr/The Washington Times

President Obama’s once seemingly unstoppable march toward re-election hit what he might call “bumps in the road” in Benghazi, Libya, late on Sept. 11, 2012. It might be more accurate to describe the effect of the well-planned and -executed, military-style attack on a diplomatic facility there as the political equivalent of a devastating improvised explosive device on the myth of the unassailability of the Obama record as commander in chief.

Thanks to intrepid investigative reporting — notably by Bret Baier and Catherine Herridge at Fox News, Aaron Klein at and Clare Lopez at — and information developed by congressional investigators, the mystery is beginning to unravel with regard to what happened that night and the reason for the subsequent, clumsy official cover-up now known as Benghazigate.

The evidence suggests that the Obama administration has not simply been engaging, legitimating, enriching and emboldening Islamists who have taken over or are ascendant in much of the Middle East. Starting in March 2011, when American diplomat J. Christopher Stevens was designated the liaison to the “opposition” in Libya, the Obama administration has been arming them, including jihadists like Abdelhakim Belhadj, leader of the al Qaeda franchise known as the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group....

Investigative journalist Aaron Klein has reported that the “consulate in Benghazi” actually was no such thing. He observes that although administration officials have done nothing to correct that oft-repeated characterization of the facility where the murderous attack on Stevens and his colleagues was launched, they call it a “mission....”

Barack Obama: Not Optimal

RASMUSSEN: R 50% O 46%...
GALLUP: R 51% O 46%...

Romney attracts support from 89% of Republican voters. The president earns the vote from 82% of Democrats. Among those not affiliated with either major party, the GOP challenger leads by nine. - Rasmussen
51%/46% Among likely voters - Gallup
Debates deliver favorability edge to Romney; now above 50% in rating - Stephen Dinan/The Washington Times
Why does each day matter? Because it's folding in results from voters who saw the second presidential debate -- the one Obama won -- while dropping the oldest results from before the debate last Thursday. Obama's victory isn't earning him the same swing in polls that Romney's victory in the first debate did for the Republican. At least, not in Gallup's findings. - The Atlantic Wire

We live in an age of disbelief, in which citizens increasingly do not believe what their government says or, for that matter, what is accepted as true by popular culture.

Do We Believe Anymore? - Victor Davis Hanson/PJM

When I heard the president in the last debate, I thought I was in Cloud Cuckoo Land: he seemed to be running for office as a fresh challenger — with the same future tenses and subjunctive moods of “I will” and “I would” as he long ago used against Bobby Rush, Alan Keyes, Hillary Clinton, and John McCain, when he was the perennial potential office-holder. In other words, the president sounded as if he does not have a record to run on, only a speculative one about which to offer hypotheses. Note how Obama slept through four years and only comes alive in a campaign where he loves his own speeches, likes to accuse and belittle, and feeds off the frenzy of crowds — in comparison to all that, intelligence briefings and debate prep are a “drag.”

If Barack Obama loses the election — despite incumbency, despite the media, despite the October surprises to come, despite his mellifluous teleprompted rhetoric — it is because a growing number simply do not believe anymore what they hear. It is all bottled piety without truth.

Apology Tour

Romney made absolutely no gaffes in last night's debate. The President, however, made quite a few.

For starters, those ships Obama doesn't want to build are built in the swing state of Virginia and we still use bayonets.

Obama's biggest gaffe, though, was his utterly bizarre comments about how there will be no "sequester" and how he had nothing to do with it. Both assertions are simply not true. He signed the sequester into law and it is law.

D.C. caught off guard by Obama sequester vow - Philip Ewing/Politico

"It is a nice line, but for more than a year the president hasn't lifted a finger to avert the crisis,” said House Armed Services Committee Chairman Rep. Buck McKeon (R-Calif.) “Instead, his policies and positions have increased uncertainty for our troops and the men and women who support them. The effects of sequestration can already be felt. Jobs have already been lost. The president and his party in the Senate have failed to offer even a single real solution that could resolve sequestration. If the president is determined that these cuts won't happen, why has he drug it out this long?”

MSNBC's Chuck Todd: Obama has big problems and is running out of time

MSNBC's Chuck Todd this morning explained that President Obama has run out of time to "disqualify" Mitt Romney, and has to scramble in his remaining weeks to reassert his case for re-election. - Charlie Spiering/Washington Examiner @charlesspiering

Todd suggested that the Obama campaign's new advertising push is a "closing argument" attempt, but perhaps is a bit late.

"I think they now realize that - two weeks is not enough time to have the conversation with voters that they want to have," Todd said. "He missed his opportunity. He blew it in that first debate."

Too little too late, Mr President? Romney DOUBLES his lead in new national poll just hours after Obama goes to war in final TV debate

Rasmussen poll puts Romney at 50% with Obama on 46% - Toby Harnden/Daily Mail

Mitt Romney has doubled his lead in a new national poll just hours after the explosive final presidential debate - and with just two weeks to go until election day, it is unclear whether Barack Obama will be able to make up the gap.

The Republican candidate held a four-point lead in the Rasmussen tracking poll released on Tuesday, with 50 per cent of the vote compared to 46 per cent for the President. In Monday's poll he led by two points.

In addition, Romney's lead was five points in swing states and as many as nine points among self-declared independent voters.
