California Governor Jerry Brown won’t touch scholarship funding for illegal immigrant students while he cuts scholarship funding for middle-class U.S. citizens enrolled in higher education institutions, Campus Reform reports.
Awash in another budget deficit expected to hit $2 billion by this summer, Brown decided to trim education expenses — but spending on scholarships for illegals will continue to increase....
Paul Golaszewski, Principal Fiscal & Policy Analyst for the LAO, told Campus Reform that the DREAM Act is going to cost California taxpayers $88.6 million in fiscal year 2017/18.
Many middle-class families are outraged that student illegals are untouched by budget cuts while Brown is disinterested in the financial burdens of middle class families living in highly-taxed California. They say Brown’s plan lacks a basic comprehension of middle-class need.

...According to her research, 78% of people lost to suicide are male, 93% of federal inmates are male, men receive 63% longer prison sentences for the same crime and about 60% of homeless individuals are male.
She also notes that men are more likely to serve in dangerous active duty combat, and that they live five years less than women, on average.
“Men have to be the only oppressor class in history who are less educated, more victimized and have shorter lives than those they oppress,” she claims.
Hoff Sommers takes her analysis of gender issues to college campuses. She has given speeches at Wellesley, Bucknell, Georgetown and dozens of other schools across the nation.
No stranger to controversy, her lectures often explicitly condemn campus feminism, which she sees as having a “cult-like effect on certain students.”
Feminism “draws them in with false claims about how oppressed nearly everyone is in the ‘capitalist, heteronormative, patriarchy,’” she said. “Some become angry and rancorous and have no compunction about bullying other students.”
Her views are so controversial that students often protest her lectures — even before they have heard her speak.
When students at California State-Los Angeles discovered that Hoff Sommers was coming to campus last semester, some were not happy.
Two students were caught on film tearing down fliers for the event. “This is my freedom of speech,” said one student, who alleged that the fliers were “offensive.” ...

Girls disguised and raised as boys in Afghanistan. Why? "To live freely like boys." Helps them survive until they hit puberty.
Billed as an anti-Trump protest, it’s the same old leftist song and dance and has little to do with him. What if you held a giant international women’s strike and nobody showed up? Well, let’s scrap that question. The whole point of a strike, to be fair, is for no one to show up — at least not at work, anyway. But what if a bunch of left-wing feminist leaders cooked up a grandiose, multi-country women’s strike — “A Day Without a Woman,” as American organizers are calling it — and the result was not an empowered roar but rather the slow, steady, and somewhat disheartening sound of air slowly hissing out of a proverbial misfired whoopee cushion?
On March 8, we’ll find out. The organizers of January’s massive Trump-inspired women’s marches are back, looking for a follow-up hit, and they’ve settled on A Day Without a Woman, which is scheduled for International Women’s Day. For people like me — people who ultimately prefer not to live in a perpetual state of outrage and panic — this is unfortunately a bit confusing....

Why have California's pension funds fallen so far short of their projected returns? Part of it is that they base investment decisions on their political beliefs.
The day he was sworn in to the California Assembly, freshman Bay Area Democrat Ash Kalra filed his first piece of legislation: Assembly Bill 20, which would force the state’s two largest public employee retirement funds, CalSTRS and CalPERS, to divest from companies involved in building the disputed Dakota Access pipeline.
The bill, if it were to become law (and it shouldn’t), wouldn’t stop the project from being completed. The Army Corps of Engineers has already given final approval to the remaining section of the pipeline. It would, however, blow a multibillion-dollar hole in the pension funds — and the public pocketbook, because state and local taxpayers would be left to fill that hole....
...District officials removed the high school from the National School Lunch Program after years of struggling to comply with federal regulations that drove down student lunch participation and cafeteria revenues, the Tribune-Review reports.
The freedom from the strict restrictions on calories, fat, sugar, salt and other elements, came at the expense of federal funding to help cover free- and reduced-priced lunches for some students, but district business manager Brett Lago said the decision is already paying off in year one.
“We’ve lost, to date, about $40,000 worth of reimbursement, but our sales are up about $50,000 over last year,” he said. “Participation has gone from about 25 percent to 45 percent, and we’re still providing free lunches to all those students who would have been eligible under the school lunch program.”
Ditching the federal regulations allowed school food workers to redesign the cafeteria from a funnel system with few choices to a food court model with a deli and panini station, grill, main course counter and other stations, according to the news site.
“You get to choose what you want instead of being sort of funneled in and only having one choice,” junior Chase Zavarella said. “I think everyone is happier with the new selection.”...
Lago said the new system gives high school students more control over what they eat, whereas the federal program mandated the same sized portions for a wide range of student body types and dietary needs.

No fewer than seven veteran Times reporters contributed to the story, the Gray Lady having dedicated more resources to undermining the Trump administration than the Republican Congress has to advancing Trump’s agenda.
National Security Adviser Michael Flynn was dismissed amid a torrent of mainstream-media reporting and disgraceful government leaks (but I repeat myself). Among the most intriguing was a New York Times report the morning after Flynn’s resignation, explaining that the former three-star Army general and head of the Defense Intelligence Agency was “grilled” by FBI agents “about a phone call he had had with Russia’s ambassador.”
No fewer than seven veteran Times reporters contributed to the story, the Gray Lady having dedicated more resources to undermining the Trump administration than the Republican Congress has to advancing Trump’s agenda. Remarkably, none of the able journalists appears to have asked a screamingly obvious question — a question that would have been driving press coverage had an Obama administration operative been in the Bureau’s hot seat.
On what basis was the FBI investigating General Flynn?
...The FBI also has the foreign-intelligence gig because the Bureau is fully constrained by the Constitution and other federal law. Our other intelligence agencies — the best example is the CIA — are prohibited from “spying” inside the United States, largely because their foreign operations are outside the jurisdiction and fetters of American law. We understand that our security requires that our domestic security service have wide intelligence-gathering latitude; but we do not permit it to be limitless — it must respect our constitutional rights....
...why did the FBI and the Justice Department investigate Flynn — and why did “officials” make sure the press found out about it?
It's not that Pope Francis is an idiot who doesn't believe that Muslims commit terrorist acts. Far from it. The pope is an idiot who believes that Muslims don't commit acts of terror in the name of Islam any more often than Christians or Jews commit acts of terror in the name of their religion.
